VOM BUFLOD now offers personalized training
for all breeds including YOUR DOG!
We offer
personalized training geared towards the specific
needs of the dog and owner. Our goal is to help
people who's dogs have
fallen into pitfalls such as barking, house breaking, biting, or
obedience problems.
Many times training can
fail due to a "cookie cutter" approach where one
method tries to fit all.
By carefully evaluating your dog and your goals we can
custom tailor a successful training
program.
We provide all types of training for all breed and
ages including problem
solving, on and off leash obedience,
tracking, service dog
training, conditioning, and
personal protection. We
offer a "board and train"
program
where your dog is trained
here then you receive private
follow up lessons on working
with your dog. We also
offer a "K- 9 to 5" program which is like doggy
day care with training. Your dog
is dropped off each morning at
9 am for training then
picked up in the afternoon at 5 pm. The training is like a
residency program except your
dog
sleeps at your home. Private
lessons at our facility or your home are
available.
Call us with any questions or to set up a no
obligation evaluation at (937) 477-7735.

TEACHING THE OWNER is a crucial
part of the training process. Through go home lessons and
private
follow up lessons you will learn to work and communicate
with your dog. These lessons can be done here
or nearby your home. Heidi and Wolf pictured
below live in Sandiego, California. After two months of on
leash,
off leash, and ecollar training they were personally delivered
to the owners in California. The go home lesson
and follow up lessons took place at the dog beach there in
California.
All dogs and situations are unique and we can
custom design a program that meets your needs and
goals.

Five month old Hurley vom Buflod (Skip vom Kottersbusch/ Cindy
vom Avalon) pictured on day 3 of on leash
residency training. We teach the basic commands under a variety
of distractions so that they are
thoroughly understood. Training initially in a quiet
setting is fine but proofing is needed around
many distractions. Here we are working on the SETZ (SIT) near
some caves at John Bryan State Park.

4 month old GSD Gunnar vom Buflod is shown working
on basic on leash obedience.
Prior to 4 months of age the puppy needs plenty of positive
interaction with all types
of people, places, and things. They are most impressionable
during this early
"Human Socialization" phase. After 4 months of age is
the more formal obedience
training can begin.

Residency Training is our "Board and Train" program where your
dog stays with us for
two or three weeks for training. We work with your dog multiple
times each day in shorter
work outs so that the learning process rapid and is fun
for your dog. We then train you
on how to communicate with your dog though gp home and follow up
lessons. The ideal
time for training might be when you are leaving for vacation so
that your dog is at school while
you are on a trip. Pictured is Phoenix vom Buflod who is training
in basic obedience while his
family visits China!

SERVICE DOG TRAINING begins with on and off leash
obedience training.
Sage is shown above heeling with volenteer helper Lidia in a
busy downtown setting.
Sage is training as a Service Dog for Lisa from Wisconsin.
The cars, people, and other
distractions are part of "proofing the command" which means to
make the command
applicable under all circumstances. Great job Lidia and
thank you for your help!

Training for ALL BREEDS and
AGES of dogs can be done through PRIVATE
LESSONS
or our "RESIDENCY BOARD & TRAIN"
programs. Pictured is MONA training with owner
Susan at Caesars Creek State
Park in October of 2009. Mona is a wonderful 6 month
old Hound/Shepherd mix
who is
doing great with weekly private lessons! Weekly lessons
work well for an active owner like
Susan who will practice daily
with her dog's
training.

4 month old MALARKEY is a 4 month old Australian
Shepherd/Spaniel mix. He is working on Basic On Leash
Obedience in our two week Residency Board and Train
Program. He is an exceptionally confident and playful
puppy
and lots of potential for a future in
AGILITY.
All types of
training begin with a solid ON LEASH OBEDIENCE
FOUNDATION!

Training your dog is only part of the task. You
are taught how to work with your dog in a private go home
lesson.
Through daily practice and follow up lessons you learn
how to best communicate with you dog and continue
his or her training.

Never too young! 11 week old
GSD puppy "ELLY" below in 2 weeks of residency obedience
training.
Obedience training with a young dog or
puppy takes a great deal of patience and
multiple
short obedience work
outs.

A good obedience foundation is the
key to a successful relationship between you and your dog.
Training should include many
distractions and real life situations teaching your dog
to behave
at all times!

"Sits" Obedience commands are proofed with all ages of
handlers
so
that the dogs learns to obey and respect all your family
members too.

Training outdoors and proofing the commands under
distractions is an important part of obedience
training.
Dogs get to see bridges, running water, cats, horses,
kids, other dogs, moving cars... and learn that a sit means
sit
no matter what. A DOG WHO WILL ONLY OBEY
A PROFESSIONAL TRAINER IN A DISTRACTION-
FREE
ENVIRONMENT IS NOT YET TRAINED. In
our BOARD AND TRAIN RESIDENCY PROGRAM we work
with
your dog under all
types of distractions then teach YOU how to
communicate with YOUR dog!
Our goal is to make obedience a way of
life for your dog!

Personal Protection
training: Marko vom Buflod at 18
months
Personal protection training can be done
after basic "on leash" and advanced "off leash"
obedience are completed. The dog is trained
to react to a threat upon command. Our
training does not make a dog anti-social,
mean, aggressive, or a threat to friends or
family.
Instead the dog learns that protection of the owner is done upon command
and to be reliable
and predictable compared to an untrained dog.
We emphasize and require FULL OBEDIENCE
TRAINING
before starting
our personal
protection training program.
